DYMM Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who was in the United States for heart surgery, returned home to Malaysia to a warm welcome. The private jet touched down at 3.40pm and he walked out with minimal help to greet family members, Raja Muda Perak, DYTM Raja Dr Nazrin Shah, Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and 250 others at KLIA’s Bunga Raya VIP complex. Dressed in a brown moleskin jacket over a denim shirt, black trousers and sneakers, the Sultan had some tea before going home. His personal physician Datuk Dr Anuar Masduki said the heart surgery on May 2 involved three procedures over nine hours and went smoothly with the Sultan making satisfactory recovery. Followup treatment would be done at Sime Darby SJMC, he said. Welcome home Tuanku!!!!

Prof Madya Dr Faridah Moosdeen It is with great regret that we report the death on 30 January 2009 of Prof Madya Dr Faridah Moosdeen, one of the leading figures of the International Society of Chemotherapy (ISC) over the past 20 years. Faridah Moosdeen was born in Malaya in 1949 and received her Bachelor and Master Degree in Science from the Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia. In 1975 she went to Vietnam to study for the Diploma in Medical Microbiology at the Pasteur Institute in Saigon. She came to the UK in 1982 to study at the Department of Medical Microbiology at the London Hospital where she was awarded a PhD and passed the MRCPath examination. In collaboration with the late Professor John David Williams she carried out significant research, publishing a number of papers on bacterial resistance mechanisms. dis morning to my schock to see my PADI OW student certified diver in 2003 & AOW Certified Diver whom they dived with me @ Ocean Blue, Perhentian Island in 2003. According to the news that Ive got that the bodies of two doctors went missing since Wednesday & found in a ravine near the Klang Gates in Ulu Ampang on Saturday. Dr Haliza Mohd Shafiee, 53, and Dr Amin Tai Abdullah @ Tai Yen Ming, 57, were believed to have slipped and fallen into the ravine while jungle trekking at a popular spot in Bukit Tabuh near Taman Melawati, Ampang. Their bodies were spotted by the pilots of a police helicopter at 2.15pm in a search operation launched in the area after a car belonging to one of the doctors was found near Bukit Melawati. The pilots radioed the general location of the bodies. Police, using tracker dogs, found them later. Gunung berapi dasar laut mampu menjadi pemusnah paling besar di muka bumi

KETENANGAN Lautan Pasifik Selatan yang membiru airnya terganggu pada 16 Mac lalu berikutan satu letusan gunung berapi dasar laut di perairan berhampiran negara Tonga. Letusan kuat itu menyebabkan asap, wap dan debu menyelubungi kawasan sekitar perairan tersebut hingga ke langit. Pakar mengatakan letusan yang kerap dan bertalu-talu itu telah memuntahkan batu dan debu-debu hitam setinggi beratus-ratus meter ke udara. Ketua Ahli Seismologi Kerajaan Tonga, Kelepi Mafi yang meninjau lokasi letusan itu baru-baru ini berkata, gunung berapi tersebut mempunyai dua lohong iaitu di Hunga Ha'apai dan sebuah lagi berada kira-kira 100 meter dari luar pesisir pantai. Kandungan isipadu batu dan debu yang dimuntahkan daripada kedua-dua lohong itu telah memenuhi ruang antara keduanya.
